The plot is well-conceived and the execution is brilliant. The pace is quick, almost frantic, yet it makes the reader read faster. The reader also gets to experience all the emotions of the characters at an elevated pace.

The world-building is stunning and intricate. The author builds a gritty world, a haven for vampires, mystical creatures, and more, where humans have little power. The lore of these creatures is steeped in common mythology yet the author adds her own spin to make it her own.

The characters are quite compelling and I connected with them on some level. The character that cleaved himself to me and made the biggest impact is Michael’s son. He’s in a world he doesn’t quite understand and is forced to do the unthinkable.

The writing reminds me of classic Anne Rice blended with Stephen King. M. Flagg is an up and coming paranormal romance author you will want to read. I can’t wait for more.

Having not done this for over a decade, I’ll admit to being a bit scared. It took three downloads of the manuscript before I got the hang of things in track changes. But it’s done. What a way to end the month!

I am pleased to announce that Night of the Crescent Moon, Book 4 of the Champion Chronicles has been contracted by The Wild Rose Press. After only writing reports and evaluations for a decade, and then another two years of Covid in retirement, it is both exciting and humbling to be published in paranormal fiction again and with such a great house. And now for all the housekeeping and edits… such a blessing to be back!
